Cal Ripken Spends Time With Patients at Doctors Hospital

AUGUSTA---Greenjackets owner and baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken was in town today. He spent the afternoon with patients at Doctors Hospital.

The patients were excited to meet the former baseball player.

Ripken told us he was in town checking on the team but mostly to get back out in the community. He compared Doctors Hospital's new building to the Four Seasons Hotel and said he enjoyed visiting with the patients.

"I think the best part is you find a few baseball people as patients," Ripken said. "Being in a hospital isn't the easiest thing to do, and sometimes a little thing like baseball can life their spirits."

Ripken says these visits with fans also help raise his spirits by talking with people who used to watch him play.
