(CSRwire) RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 24, 2007--For anyone looking to get dad the perfect gift this Father's Day, here is the opportunity to nominate him to be Samsung and Sears' "Father of The Year." In their ongoing support of NFL Football Great Boomer Esiason and the Boomer Esiason Foundation, Samsung's Four Seasons of Hope and Sears are in search of the greatest dads across the country.
Anyone who visits a Sears location between May 20, and June 17, 2007, can enter by sharing a story of how their dad or a dad in the community is deserving of the Father of the Year honor. The winning father will be rewarded with a trip for two to New York City for a meet and greet with Boomer Esiason, which will be followed by a once in a lifetime opportunity to go on a $10,000 shopping spree for Samsung electronics products at Sears. In addition, during the promotion period for select Samsung product purchased at a Sears location, a donation will be made to the Boomer Esiason Foundation.
The Boomer Esiason Foundation (BEF) was started in 1993 by Boomer Esiason, one of the NFL's foremost quarterbacks over the last two decades, and his wife Cheryl after their son Gunnar was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF). The BEF is a partnership of medical and business community leaders, coupled with a core volunteer force, who join together to provide financial support for Cystic Fibrosis research.
The foundation works to educate and heighten awareness of CF and to provide a better quality of life for those affected by this genetic disease. Boomer and Cheryl are strongly committed to supporting this critical research that could discover the cure for Cystic Fibrosis that they believe could be near. To date more than $50 million has been raised for the cause.
"Boomer and his foundation have done so much to put CF at the forefront and help find a cure which will save his son's life," said Jonathan Magasanik, VP and GMM of Home Electronics of Sears, Roebuck and Co. "He is certainly our father of the year and we are proud to support his Foundation through our alliance with Samsung's Four Seasons of Hope."
"The Samsung Four Seasons of Hope program is in its sixth year of giving back to the charities and communities we support. We have raised more than $7.5 million to date," said D.J. Oh, president and CEO, Samsung Electronics America, Inc. "Boomer Esiason and his foundation, coupled with support from retail partner Sears, are exceptional alliances who are truly helping us make a difference in the lives of children."
The Boomer Esiason Foundation has been a benefactor of Samsung's Four Seasons of Hope since its inception in 2002. Samsung's Four Seasons of Hope is an innovative philanthropy program that combines the forces of major national retailers with sports, music and civic personalities, to benefit children, families and communities in need.
